Who we are
This privacy policy is for CheckInSquad: Family Check In, an Android app published on Google Play by Harris Apps Studio (package com.checkinsquad.app), and for the website checkinsquad.com. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Harris Apps Studio.
The short version
We never track anyone in the background. Location is read once, at the moment a person taps check in, and only a yes/no "within range" result plus the distance is kept (Field Safety, which a group owner can turn on, keeps the spot of a visit or Help press for up to 30 days; see Location). We never sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers. Kids never need an email. You can export everything with one tap and delete your group any time.
What we store
- Grown-up accounts: name, email, a hashed password.
- Kids and staff added by an owner: a first name, an avatar, a hashed PIN. No email, no phone number.
- A profile photo, only if you or an owner adds one. Everyone in your group can see it next to your name. With Field Safety on, it also appears on any safety alert about you (on screen, in the alert email and on the phone notification) so the people helping you can recognize you, and a supervisor can choose to share it with your name and last known spot, for example with police. Remove it any time under More.
- Group data you create: check-ins (time, type, whether the tap was within your home radius, the distance, an optional note or photo), chores, calendar items, messages, announcements, requests, schedules.
- Push subscriptions for devices that turned notifications on. In the Android app, notifications are delivered through Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which receives the phone's notification token and the text of each notification, and nothing else.
Share and install counts
In the Android app, when you share your family's invite, or install the app from a link someone shared, we count it, with no name attached (for example, "share opened"). To credit the person whose link was used, the app keeps a random code on your phone and sends it with that count. We do not record what you do inside the app, and none of this is used for advertising.
The website and the web version at checkinsquad.com/app count the same way, with no name attached. If you arrive from a link someone shared, a cookie keeps that link's random code for 30 days so the person who shared can be credited. Browsers that send Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control are not counted.
Location
When someone taps a check-in button, the phone asks permission and shares its position once. We compare it to the group's home location and store the distance and a confirmed / unconfirmed flag. We do not store a trail, we do not run in the background, and we do not read location at any other time.
Field Safety (only when a group owner turns it on, for people who visit homes and job sites alone): when a worker starts a visit, ends it, or holds Help, the phone shares its position once at that tap. We store that spot so the people above them in the group can open it on a map if something goes wrong. Coordinates are erased after 30 days (7 days in Test Mode, where everything is deleted). Nothing is tracked between taps.
Kids
Kids sign in with a family code, a first name, and a PIN chosen by a parent. We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, or precise location history from children. A parent can remove a child and their data at any time from People.
Who can see what
Owners see everything in their group. Supervisors see their own team. Members in the family circle see the family feed. Staff see only their own schedule, their own check-ins, and messages with the owner. Nobody outside your group can see anything.
Your data is yours
Owners can export the entire group as a JSON file from Settings at any time. Removing a person stops their seat the same day. To delete your account and every group you alone own, tap More, then Delete my account, and it is gone instantly. Payments
Paid plans are billed through Stripe. We never see or store card numbers.
